¹⁶ For You are our ^(A)Father, though ^(B)Abraham does not know us
And Israel does not recognize us.
You, O Yahweh, are our Father,
Our ^(C)Redeemer from everlasting is Your name.
¹⁷ Why, O Yahweh, do You ^(D)cause us to stray from Your ways
And ^(E)stiffen our heart from fearing You?
^(F)Return for the sake of Your slaves, the tribes of Your inheritance.
¹⁸ Your holy people possessed Your sanctuary for a little while;
Our adversaries have ^(G)trodden it down.
